Matrescence

Matrescence (n): Those physical, psychological and emotional changes you go through after the birth of your child now have a name: matrescence.

Matrescence is a collaborative zine exploring early motherhood and maternal mental health. Each zine features text, poetry, collage and drawing created during small informal meet-ups and reflects on the early days and months in the transition to motherhood. The title of the zine was born following a visit to an exhibition of contemporary art exploring the subject of birth at Richard Saltoun gallery: Matrescence Part 1
